Hi, nice that you have a look!
We are Yvonne and Tobias, from Germany, and you are standing in front of our truck – and maybe have a lot of questions. Believe us, we’ve had each question asked many times and have started collecting and writing them down. In the following you can find out more about us and our vehicle.
If you want to follow our journey and also want to see pictures, please follow us on Instagram or Facebook.
The truck
• Our truck is from MAN in Germany, the model is called TGS 18.540.
• 9.50 m (31 ft) long, 3.90 m (12,8 ft) high and 2.50 m (8,2 ft) wide.
• Weight: around 15 tons.
• The engine has 540 hp and requires diesel, approximately 25 l (6,5 ga)/100 km.
• We have a 600 l diesel tank and a 500 l water tank.
• How do you get such a monster to America? It’s actually quite simple: We handed it in at the port of Hamburg and picked it up again 2 weeks later in Halifax (Canada). Of course we flew in, you are not allowed to ride on thecargo-ship.
• The cabin is fully equipped, we have everything you have at home, just smaller. Yes, a normal toilet and also a shower.
• We do not have any propane on board, all energy comes from electricity and diesel.
• Electricity is generated while driving via the alternator and via solar modules on the roof.
• We heat with diesel and waste heat from the engine.
• We have a washing machine on board.
• Our vehicle has nothing to do with the military, we bought it new, everything is purely private.
• We didn’t build the cabin ourselves, a company did it for us.
• Yes, you can access the cabin directly from the driver’s cab.
• The rear platform is hydraulically operated and can be lowered to the ground.
• The rear axle has air-suspension and we can raise or lower it for levelling.
• Despite the size of the truck, we have never had a problem finding a parking space. We have never failed at a bridge, never snapped a cable. The size is just right to us.
• The design is not painted, it has been wrapped. An artist did the creative work on our behalf. This makes our vehicle unique.
• We never answer the question about how much ourvehicle costs…that’s our secret.

Our plan
• We’re living full time in our RV and are curious about the whole world.
• In the next few years we want to travel the entire Panamericana from Alaska to Patagonia, but slowly and with many detours. The best way to see what we have already experienced is on our Instagram-profile.
• We don’t travel with a fixed plan, everything turns out differently anyway.
• We have no fixed goal and no defined period.
• We work „remotely“ on the go.
